Hi everyone, September is here. This is a pretty big month for myself, and Impulse! Though this will be a shorter update, things are progressing really well. If you’d like a sneak peak, you can always follow me over at Twitch http://www.twitch.tv/gamerstonight Formal announcements, dates and a free demo will all (hopefully) be released by the end of the month, along with the Kickstarter campaign. I’m currently tidying up some artwork, and recording the voice acting so there’s a lot of things happening right now! Expect a large content update in a couple weeks, and a final update at month end. … Continue reading September is here! Home stretch!
Hello world, I wanted to share some progress updates with you. As of right now, I’ve been working full time on Impulse, gearing up for some special events in September with the launch of our Kickstarter, a demo and full trailer! Right now I’m programming in the mechanics of the game, preparing for Voice Acting by finalizing casting and finishing off the Chapter One script. Mechanics As far as the mechanics for the game go, people who have played Danganronpa and the Phoenix Wright series, as well as other point and clicks will be familiar. The game has three main gameplay sections … Continue reading August update – Ramping up + Mechanics
What kind of rewards really make you excited for a kickstarter? Is it something as simple as early bird pricing, or physical copies? Perhaps something as in depth as being an NPC, or some other way to become involved with the game? I honestly need a little feedback here as I prepare for future updates. And on that note, UPDATES! I’m shooting for (late) September. This is when I’ll really be able to announce things like full list of intended platforms, gameplay feature showcase, a crapton more artwork and music and lots, lots more. For now, enjoy this picture of … Continue reading Kickstarter Rewards + Update
So writing a videogame soundtrack is very new to me, yet a very exciting proposition! As I compose for it, I’d love to share with you some inspiration, and how I’m making musical decisions. So for the band themselves, this is fairly easy. Write some great indie rock music! But when it comes to incidental music, it’s a little harder. How do I write a piece that can convey frustration, or depression and despair when the group have their investigation go cold? For that last one, this track is helping me a lot – It’s really working to get that … Continue reading Soundtrack Research
So NaNoRenO over at the Lemma Soft forums has always produced some great OELVN games, and I’m sure this year will be no exception! I’m as yet undecided as to whether I’ll submit anything myself, but I’m going to enjoy this all the same! If you want to get involved, head over to the forums to find out more. Alternatively, if you wanna maybe help me out a bit, hit me up on Twitter @NewWestGames. Lastly, I love sharing new music with people. This has been a mainstay on my stereo recently. Enjoy! Peace! Hello all! So recently I started playing Steins Gate, which is commonly regarded as a great visual novel. I have to admit, the first hour or so really hasn’t grabbed my attention. Maybe it’s the main character having this off the wall, totally eccentric personality that doesn’t quite vibe with me. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s translated from Japanese. I’m going to stick with it, but man it’s hard work! I recently picked up the humble indie bundle visual novel special, so I’ve got a lot to play over the coming months! My game list is far too long. … Continue reading Steins Gate + Impulse Updates
